FLAG BRIDGE

Flag bridge installed 7 June 1927 to 6 Sep 1927. Date is based on dated photos of TEXAS leaving dry dock (23 Nov 1926) without the flag bridge and her 15 Jan 1928 arrival, in Havana, with the Flag Bridge. A 24 May - 6 June 1927 photo provided by Al White (27 Oct 2002), does not show the Flag Bridge, leaving installation periods of: 

  • 7 June – 20 Aug 1927, Portsmouth Navy Yard, VA
  • 31 Aug – 6 Sep 1927, New York Navy Yard, NYC

The flag bridge was the only deck level ever added directly above the navigation bridge, after the July 1925 - November 1926 modernization. The air defense platform was later added above the flag bridge
