| Changed September - October 1944 - New York Navy Yard. 20mm - photos. 14 replaced: NY Times photo and article with removed gun towed up 5th Ave to 6th War Bond drive site. Mark XII being present arriving in Texas in 1948 (per 1 April 1948 inventory by Naval Ordnance Bureau). I dispute the claim of the Mark 1 being installed for the gun was not designed for the larger powder bag (94 lbs vs 105lbs). Also it makes no sense changing Mark 1 for Mark 12 before bringing the ship to Texas. |
